A marina da Póvoa de Varzim tem uma localização privilegiada. Foi mandada construir pela Câmara Municipal da Póvoa de Varzim em 1999 a partir de um projeto do Clube Naval Povoense e a gestão do espaço foi entregue ao clube, que ao longo do ano organiza várias atividades desportivas e regatas.  

A marina está instalada num local sossegado e seguro e é uma importante via de chegada à cidade. Tem serviços para embarcações de recreio e partilha o espaço com o porto de pesca, atividade tradicional da cidade. A Póvoa sempre teve uma ligação com o mar e foi nesta cidade onde se criou as siglas e a lancha poveira, usadas entre as pessoas da classe piscatória. 

A intenção deste projeto é valorizar e reaver as tradições e a ligação que esta cidade e os povoenses têm com o mar. Assim, o principal objetivo deste projeto é representar essa ligação e retratar a marina da Póvoa como um local onde o mar encontra a terra e um local onde as pessoas possam conviver e relaxar.  

Para isso foram utilizadas ilustrações que remetem a esse laço existente entre as pessoas e o mar. Foi criada uma nova identidade, com um logotipo que representa a terra e o mar. Agregado ao logotipo surge uma linguagem visual descontraída, que utiliza a corda usada tradicionalmente na pesca como elemento principal. Baseada nos edifícios da marina, foi também desenvolvido um sistema de sinalização eficaz e simples, tornando a navegação do espaço fácil. Por fim, foi desenvolvida a comunicação da marina e alguns suportes extra, como o colete salva-vidas utilizado nas atividades marítimas e nas viagens de barco.

The Póvoa de Varzim marina has a privileged location. It  was built in 1999 based on a project by Clube Naval Povoense and the management of the space was handed over to the club, which throughout the year organizes various activities and regattas. 

The marina is located in a quiet and safe place and is an important way to get to the city. It has services for pleasure boats and shares the space with the fishing port, a traditional activity in the city. Póvoa has always had a connection with the sea and it was in this city where the “poveira” boat and signs were created, used among the people of the fishing class. 

The intention of this project is to value and recover the traditions and the connection that this city and the people have with the sea. Thus, the main objective of this project is to represent this connection and portray the Póvoa marina as a place where the sea meets the land and a place where people can socialize and relax. 

For this, illustrations were used that refer to this existing bond between people and the sea. A new identity was created, with a logo that represents the land and the sea. Added to the logo is a relaxed visual language, which uses the rope traditionally used in fishing. Based on the marina buildings, an effective and simple wayfinding system was developed, making navigation of the space easier. Finally, the communication of the marina and some extra supports were developed, such as the life jacket used in sea activities and in boat trips.
