O ensino secundário português nunca foi nem será tão cool como os high school years americanos. Não temos casacos de baseball, a prom night, os clubes de desporto e os recortes colados nos cacifos portugueses são mais enfadonhos que os de qualquer escola do Wisconsin.
Ser adolescente, no entanto, é uma tragédia em todo o lado. Entre experiências verdadeiras desses anos e marcas emprestadas do cinema e à inevitavelmente jovem cultura pop, o trajecto de Turma de 2008 é uma linha picotada entre retalhos de sonhos adolescentes e memórias da escola e dos amigos, os mais fixes, os mais giros e os mais felizes entre os infelizes.
Como os rapazes em Virgens Suicidas, as imagens de Turma de 2008 reconstituem a vida e as experiências de um grupo de teenagers, não de maneira persecutória e obsessiva, mas com a mesma doçura de tons pastel com que Sofia Coppola deita Lux Lisbon na relva, rodeada pelos seus sonhos e mistérios.
Quanto mais próxima da terra, mais longe da realidade.

The Portuguese high school years never were and will never be as cool as the American’s. In Portugal we don’t have the baseball jackets, prom night, the sports teams and the clippings on the Portuguese lockers are duller than those in any Wisconsin school.
However, being a teenager is a tragedy, wherever you are. Amidst truthful experiences of those years and borrowed influences from cinema and the always youthful pop culture, the track of Turma de 2008 is a dotted line drawn between teenage dreams and memories of the school years and friends, but only those who were the coolest, the cutest and the happiest amidst the unhappy.
Like the boys on The Virgin Suicides, the pictures of Turma de 2008 reconstitute the life and experiences of a group of teenagers, not in a persecutory and obsessive way, but with the same pastel coloured sweetness that Sofia Coppola lays Lux Lisbon on the grass, surrounded by her dreams and mysteries.
As closer she gets to the ground, the furthest she goes away from reality.
