A Arte da Xávega é um tipo de pesca artesanal que se faz em Portugal há mais de duzentos anos. Hoje em dia esta atividade está a ser posta em causa por motivos ambientais e poderá desaparecer.
O objetivo deste projeto é documentar a Arte da Xávega praticada em Espinho. Registo do quotidiano desta comunidade, das alterações das condições de trabalho, da paisagem e mais especificamente do trabalho de uma das companhas, a do barco “Viking”, em terra e no mar.

Arte da Xávega is a kind of artisanal fishery, which is done in Portugal for over two hundred years. Nowadays this activity is being questioned on environmental grounds and may disappear soon.
The aim of this project is to document the Arte Xávega practiced in Espinho, coastal town in the north of Portugal. A record of the daily life of this community, the changes in their working conditions, the landscape and more specifically the work of the team of the boat “Viking”, in land and at sea.
