Em Aveloso, uma aldeia na Serra de Montemuro, a população que resistiu ao êxodo vive essencialmente da agricultura e da pecuária. As cabras e ovelhas de todos os residentes são diariamente reunidos, em frente à capela da aldeia, num grande rebanho que depois é guiado para os montes que a cercam. A tarefa da pastorícia é alternada por todos na proporção do gado que possuem. O pastor guia o rebanho com a ajuda dos cães lobeiros, necessários também pela ameaça que os lobos constituem. Esta atividade solitária leva estes homens e mulheres por dias inteiros a permanecerem numa situação peculiar, rodeados por uma paisagem vasta e inóspita. Este projeto é um ensaio visual e sonoro sobre a a experiência eremítica do pastor. Na leitura destas fotografias propõe-se uma viagem, com ponto de partida, chegada e paragens obrigatórias. À luz de cada olhar individual tenhamos uma estória.
In Aveloso, a village in the Montemuro mountains, the population who resisted the exodus lives mainly from agriculture and livestock. The goats and sheep of all residents are daily gathered in front of the village chapel in a large herd, which is then guided to the mountains that surround it. The task of pastoralism is toggled by everyone in the proportion of cattle they own. The shepherd leads the flock with the help of lobeiro dogs, also required by the threat that wolves constitute. This solitary activity leads these men and women for days to remain in a peculiar situation, surrounded by a vast and inhospitable landscape. This project is a visual and audio essay on the eremitical experience of the shepherd. On the reading of these photographs a journey is proposed, with a start, an ending, and mandatory stopovers. To the light of every individual look may we have a story.
