“Os Magalhães”, curta-metragem em Animação 3D, desenvolvida no âmbito da unidade curricular de Projeto da Licenciatura em Multimédia, no ano letivo 2020/2021, da Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design, pertencente ao Politécnico do Porto, retrata uma noite de um casal idoso que vive, à florda pele, os perigos e os medos trazidos pela pandemia provocada pelo SARS-CoV-2. A produção fundamenta-se na experiência de vida de Joaquim e Fátima, avós maternos do aluno Marco Magalhães Bártolo que, por constituírem um grupo de alto risco, vivem o acontecimento Pandemia de uma maneira única e particular. Este projeto visa ilustrar os principais medos, inseguranças, saudades, tristezas e sonhos do mesmo na sua fase final de vida. Pretende divulgar às populações mais jovens as derradeiras e verdadeiras dificuldades que um ser humano pode ter de vivenciar perante o estado atual do planeta. Devido à sua complexidade, este trabalho visa melhorar as competências do aluno nos ramos da Modelação e Animação 3D. Esta última componente fundamenta-se no uso e estudo do sistema de captura de movimentos X-Sens. O presente relatório sustenta todo o processo de execução da curta-metragem, desde a sua conceptualização, os seus fundamentos e principais referências, à exaustiva apresentação e explicação de todos os processos executados, assim como as conclusões finais e as aprendizagens adquiridas com a realização do mesmo.

“Os Magalhães“, a short film in 3D Animation, developed under the course unit of Project of the Degree in Multimedia, in the academic year 2020/2021, of the School of Media Arts and Design, belonging to the Polytechnic of Porto, portrays an evening of an elderly couple who live, close to the skin, the dangers and fears brought by the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2. The production is based on the life experience of Joaquim and Fátima, the maternal grandparents of the student Marco Magalhães Bártolo, who, being a high risk group, live the pandemic event in a unique and particular way. This project aims to illustrate the main fears, insecurities, longings, sorrows and dreams of the student in his final phase of life. It intends to divulge to the youngest populations the ultimate and true difficulties that a human being may have to experience in the face of the current state of the planet. Due to its complexity, this work aims to improve the student’s skills in the branches of 3D Modelling and Animation. This last component is based on the use and study of the X-Sens motion capture system. This report sustains the whole process of execution of the short film, from its conceptualization, its fundamentals and main references, to the exhaustive presentation and explanation of all the executed processes, as well as the final conclusions and the acquired learnings with the accomplishment of the same.
